At Central Adelaide Volleyball Club, we strive to create an inclusive and enjoyable environment for all players, coaches, officials, parents, spectators, and volunteers. The following code of conduct outlines the expectations for everyone involved in the sport. By adhering to these guidelines, we ensure the safety, enjoyment, and development of all participants.
Administrator’s Code of Conduct
- Safe Environment: Ensure a safe and supportive environment for players, officials, and spectators, prioritising their physical and mental well-being.
- Equal Participation: Promote and provide equal opportunities for all individuals to participate, regardless of their background or skill level.
- Age-Appropriate Activities: Ensure that games, equipment, and facilities are suitable for the age, ability, and maturity of the players.
- Policy Awareness: Make the Code of Conduct easily accessible on the website, on the competition notice board, and available on request from the competition manager.
- Respect and Fairness: Model respectful and ethical behaviour, and encourage participants to follow the Code of Conduct.
- Disciplinary Actions: Make it clear that abusive behaviour, whether verbal, physical, or online, is unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action.
- Pathways for Growth: Promote pathways for participants to grow through the sport, including as players, coaches, referees, and administrators.
- Positive Role Model: Lead by example with your behaviour and language, demonstrating the core values of respect, fairness, and enjoyment.
Coach’s Code of Conduct
- Knowledge and Expertise: Stay informed and apply the latest coaching techniques appropriate to the skill and age of the players.
- Safe Practices: Ensure that all equipment and facilities are safe and suitable for the players’ age and ability.
- Respect for Officials: Model respectful behaviour towards referees and officials, teaching players the importance of accepting their decisions.
- Player Development: Focus on the development of players’ skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, prioritising effort and improvement over winning.
- Team Dynamics: Ensure fair play by giving all players reasonable court time and grouping players by age, skill, and maturity when possible.
- Emotional Wellbeing: Encourage emotional regulation, teaching players how to manage frustration, accept losses, and celebrate achievements with dignity.
- Physical Contact: Avoid inappropriate physical contact and maintain professional boundaries with players at all times.
- Enjoyment: Remember that volleyball is meant to be fun and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Parent’s Code of Conduct
- Encouragement and Enjoyment: Encourage your children to participate in volleyball for fun, not just for your satisfaction.
- Respect for Officials: Support the referee’s decisions and model positive behaviour for your children.
- Support and Positive Reinforcement: Applaud good performances by all players, and teach your child the value of effort, improvement, and teamwork.
- Respect and Control: Keep children under control, ensuring their behaviour is respectful towards other participants, officials, and spectators.
- No Negative Criticism: Avoid criticising any child or official in front of others. Constructive feedback should be private and respectful.
- No Abuse: Ensure that all verbal and physical behaviour is free from harassment, abuse, or foul language.
- Facilities and Equipment: Show respect for the use of facilities and equipment, and encourage your child to do the same.
Player’s Code of Conduct
- Understand the Rules: Learn and play by the rules of volleyball, and always give your best effort.
- Respect for All: Show respect to players, coaches, officials, and spectators at all times, understanding the value of teamwork and fair play.
- Sportsmanship: Accept losses gracefully and celebrate achievements humbly, focusing on your personal growth and effort over victory.
- Safety First: Prioritise the safety and well-being of yourself and others, and report any concerns to your coach or a club official immediately.
- Contribute Positively: Strive to be a positive influence within your team, helping to foster a supportive and cooperative environment.
- Respect Facilities: Always treat volleyball courts, equipment, and facilities with care and respect.
Referee’s Code of Conduct
- Safety Priority: Ensure the court is safe for play, with the welfare of players being the highest priority.
- Impartiality: Remain neutral and impartial at all times, making decisions based on fairness, not personal bias.
- Professionalism: Be punctual and maintain a neat appearance and correct uniform. Use appropriate hand signals, and complete scoresheets accurately.
- Respect for Players and Officials: Demonstrate respect towards players, coaches, and fellow officials, fostering a professional and respectful atmosphere.
- Enjoyment for All: Remember that volleyball is played for enjoyment, and aim to create a positive experience for all participants.
Spectator’s Code of Conduct
- Respect for All: Show respect for all players, officials, and fellow spectators, and encourage positive behaviour.
- Support Fair Play: Applaud good play from all teams, and encourage players to follow the rules and respect the officials.
- Positive Behaviour: Refrain from using foul language, abusive behaviour, or harassment. Be a supportive and positive presence at all times.
- Violence-Free Zone: Condemn violence in any form, whether verbal or physical, and promote peaceful, respectful conduct.
- Control of Children: Ensure that any children in your care are kept under control and are behaving appropriately at all times.
- Respect for Facilities: Treat all volleyball facilities and equipment with care, and encourage others to do the same.
